I am addicted to iTunes!

This may sound obvious, but iTunes is a perfect on-line store for me, as well as for thousands of others. I believe, there are alternatives (just take a look at what amazon.com has to offer), but not organized in such unique and elegant way.

First I need to mention, that the process is so appealing and easy, that it almost drives your finger to click ‘buy’. Second, there is this interconnectivity between the items (which is most helpful when searching for something), that makes your experience reacher. Third, the way iTunes makes you come back at least once a week – free tunes and videos. Not to mention overall design and intuitive style of Apple.

And now all of this becomes even better! No more DRM protection, HD format for the shows, and lots of really cool and affordable apps in the Apps Store! Today’s iTunes Store is my recommendation with no back thought!

Translation available!

Translation available!

Today I’ve got both a translation and a recommendation.

There is a great puzzle/strategy game at the Apps Store, ‘Fuzzle‘. Your goal is to survive for as long as you can by making and removing rows of five color-alike balls. This game is also known as the game of Lines. The visual side of the app is very appealing, clean, and I’d even say sexy. The mechanics and controls are keen and smooth. There are a couple of bonus balls and four game modes, that make the gameplay strategically rich and increase the replay value into infinity. More valuable is the fact that the developers keep up with the regular updates, bug fixes, and enhancements.

This truely marvelous game had to have a russian translation, I thought. So, here it is again, new Translation Project result, right at the Translations > Fuzzle Translation page, and free of charge.

Yesterday’s pick was a keystone of any windows-operating machine, the anti-virus. But this gear is not enough to protect the system. Besides viruses a whole bunch of malware programms are written each day: trojans, keyloggers, spyware, adware…

PC Tools Spyware Doctor is a perfect companion to your anti-virus solution. It runs in the background, monitors your internet activity, prevents downloading and installing malicious software.

There are two options for Spyware Doctor installation. First, buying it from the PC Tools website. And second, downloading the Spyware Doctor Starter Edition as part of Google Pack (a set of really useful free software). I recommend downloading the Starter Edition (which allows regular updates, but has a limited functionality), and checking if it works for you. As far as I know there are a few programs (generally, anti-viruses), Kaspersky Anti-Virus included, that are incompatible with it, and can’t be run at the same time. Other than that there are no serious flaws in the software. It doesn’t load up the system, and has ‘no-brainer’ and ‘advanced’ levels of presentation, scheduling and daily updates. So, gear up, and get protected!

First things first. No internet security is possible without clear understanding what you can and can not do. Don’t open e-mail attachments, don’t click on every link, don’t type in any personal information, etc…

But even if one does follow the guidelines and exercises cautious serfing, there is still a chance for a virus, a tracking cookie, or a malware to penetrate the system. So, it’s always good to have a some kind of anti-virus/spyware detector. My recommendation for today is NOD32 anti-virus, and my tomorrow’s pick will be PC Tools Spyware Doctor, an important component of internet security.

What NOD32 does to my system perfomance – nothing! It’s not a resourse hog at all! What it does to protect me – everything. It has heuristics algorhythms, constantly updated virus signature database, monitor, scanner, e-mail checker.

Tomorrow I’ll review the Spyware Doctor, and show the way of installing the basic free version with Google Pack.
