Still C, still the Functions

Code in CI am still learning C, and still trying to get a full grip on functions! Even though my understanding is getting clearer with each program I write, the ease of implementation has not come yet. I believe, this would take a few more sample tasks to complete.

Some sad news. My teeth hurt badly, and I’m to go to a dentist. The problem is that it feels like there are too many teeth infected, and this whole thing would probably last for some long time…

When Functions Overwhelm

Functions CodeThis time around my learning curve of C programming language got flat. For a while. :) My main concern was the topic of Functions. The syntax and implementation of the Functions in C are quite different from what I used to be familiar with, and that made me somewhat goofy.

It was two days later when I’ve finally managed to get used to the new logic and rules. Now I’d say it all makes sense.

Another ’surprise’ came from xCode. The environment is still new to me, and sometimes when something wrong happens with my program, or within the IDE itself, I have hard and long time figuring out how to fix it. Today’s challenge was to make the compiled app run in the Terminal window. Somehow I’ve managed to restore associations, and execute the exercise.

This week went on smoothly to an extend of dullness. Time issue was the one to catch me at many moments.

I’m still learning C, along with that I’ve downloaded video podcasts from iTunes U of Standford’s iPhone Programming course. Too many things to understand, though. I’m not quite familiar with Object-Oriented Programming paradigm, still some ideas seemed to make sense.

My theatre work is on its peak. Truly. I feel that my performance is enjoyed by many little souls, and they in turn give their trust and love. This is a rare thing to happen, and I’m glad it happens this many times.

Bad thing: I’ve got a flu. My nose is running, my head bubbles, and throat hurts a bit too. Good thing: Monday and Tuesday are day-offs! I believe this would help to fix my health.

Today is Orthodox Easter, so Happy Holiday!

Done with the arrays. iPhone game, the name.

CodeIt took a long evening to finish and polish my C exercise. The task was to create a program, that would count lengths of words in a text, and then show a histogram of those lengths (how many 1-letter words, 2-letter words, … 20-letter words, and so on).

I’ve enjoyed programming this task, even though it was hard. The most difficult part was to draw the actual histogram right. Some three hours later I’ve finally figured out the right algorithm! The polishing part began. After another half an hour my program could actually do a simple analysis of any given text, according to the task.

Hist  Another great thing, that occurred to me just today was the name for my first yet-to-be-written iPhone app. Sorry, folks, but I’m going to hold this off one for a while, just to take care of corresponding domain names! :)

And the last thing. I’m currently enjoying the new apps for the Mini. The results of this enjoyment you can see right away. The app is called ‘Picturesque’, and all the images of this post were made by this remarkable little image manipulator!
